LMS Cell Phone Policy

πŸ»πŸ’™ ATTENTION, LOYALTON MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILIES! πŸ’™πŸ»

πŸ“΅ LMS IS A PHONE-FREE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT!

At Loyalton Middle School, we want our students focused on learning, building positive relationships, and making the most of their school dayβ€”without the distractions of cell phones!

A few important reminders about our phone-free policy:

βœ… Cell phones and personal devices must be POWERED OFF.

βœ… Devices must remain OUT OF SIGHT.

βœ… Devices must be STORED throughout the school day.

πŸ”’ YONDR POUCHES ARE AVAILABLE, BUT NOT REQUIRED!

Students may use a Yondr pouch to help keep their phones stored during the day. However, whether they use a pouch or not, ALL students are expected to follow our phone-free policy.

⚠️ What happens if a phone is seen during school hours?

The device may be taken to the school office and held until a parent or guardian picks it up.

πŸ“‹ CALIFORNIA PHONE-FREE SCHOOLS ACT

In 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 3216, requiring California schools to adopt policies limiting or prohibiting smartphone use by July 1, 2026, with certain exceptions.

πŸ“ž Need to reach your student? No problem! Simply contact the LMS office, and we will make sure your message gets to them.

πŸ’™ Thank you, Grizzly families, for supporting our efforts to create a positive, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment!
